Okay, I’m sorry the sites been away for a while.

I had a rather long time to think about the site and what I wanted to do with it and I’mn going to stick with what I originally planned for this site which is to focus on MAJOR news updates and praise for Hugh. So, you might not see updates here as often as other fansites…. there’s plenty of them linked here for you to search for that.

I just want to give something a little different. Thanks.

THE actor Hugh Jackman, film critic David Stratton and Oscar-winning costume designer Lizzy Gardiner have thrown their celebrity clout behind the push to legalise same-sex marriage

The trio, each of which is married to a person of the opposite sex, have endorsed a statement by advocacy group Australian Marriage Equality calling for same-sex couples to be allowed to marry.

”Australia is at its best when we value equality over prejudice and fear,” the statement says. ”That’s why we support marriage equality for same-sex couples.”

”Marriage equality will help remove discrimination against same-sex couples and their children. It will also benefit marriage by allowing it to embrace more loving committed couples who uphold its values. It’s time for Australia to join the other nations that have benefited from this important reform.” The statement is part of efforts to persuade the Opposition Leader, Tony Abbott, to grant Coalition MPs a conscience vote on the issue.

A Labor backbencher, Stephen Jones, is expected to introduce a private member’s bill to legalise same-sex marriage when Parliament resumes next month. The bill appears likely to be defeated by the combined forces of its opponents in the Labor Party, who have a free vote on the issue, and the Coalition, which has a policy of opposing change.

The Australian Marriage Equality convener, Alex Greenwich, said: ”Hugh, David and Lizzy are all happily-married straight supporters of equality. They know how important marriage is to a couple and their families and, like most Australians, they don’t feel same-sex couples should be denied the meaning and benefits of marriage.”

Mr Greenwich said the celebrities joined a list of prominent same-sex marriage supporters, which included former NSW premiers Nick Greiner and Kristina Keneally, the broadcaster Derryn Hinch and the Wallabies captain, David Pocock

”The message for Tony Abbott and the Coalition is that marriage equality is not a left-wing or Greens issue, but one that’s embraced by mainstream Australia,” Mr Greenwich said.

But the acting Opposition Leader, Warren Truss, said while the Coalition respected the choices of individuals, its position was that marriage should be reserved for unions between a man and a woman.

”Australians don’t appreciate being preached at by celebrities,” he said. ”The field research is telling us very clearly that people still think that marriage is between a man and a woman.’

The Australian Christian Lobby managing director, Jim Wallace, said while the endorsements were ”smart marketing,” few Australians had any passion for change

“Celebrities don’t represent the opinion of the majority of Australians,” he said.

Tony Award winner. Hugh Jackman  has the magic touch! As previously speculated , Jackman will return to Broadway during the 2013-14 season to star as the title character in Houdini, an original musical featuring a score by Stephen Schwartz and book by Aaron Sorkin. Jack O’Brien will direct. No theater or further casting has been announced at this time.

“I have been deeply fascinated by the life of Harry Houdini since I was young,” Jackman said in a statement, “and in many ways I’ve been preparing for this role my whole life. I am thrilled to be collaborating with this collection of artists who are all at the top of their game.”

Sorkin’s take on the story of the famed magician will not be a traditional biography. Instead the musical tells the story of an epic battle between Houdini and a trio of women, known as ‘Spiritualists’, who convinced millions of people they could communicate with the dead.

Jackman recently wrapped his record-breaking solo show, Hugh Jackman, Back on Broadway. He is readying to star in the film adaptation of Les Miserables. Jackman earned a Tony Award for The Boy From Oz and also appeared on Broadway in A Steady Rain. His many film credits include the X-Men series, AustraliaSwordfish,Kate & LeopoldReal Steel and The Prestige, in which he also played an illusionist.

Houdini is produced by Scott Sanders and David Rockwell, who will also design the show’s sets.

Hugh Jackman has paid tribute to the cancer-stricken Australian who asked the Wolverine star to appear in a loving video tribute to his wife.

Kristian Anderson, 36, who made the video as he was battling liver and bowel cancer, died this week .Two years ago, he asked Hugh to appear in the tribute to his wife, Rachel, who is a fan of the star. Jackman obliged, and the video became a worldwide hit on YouTube.

The actor, who was pictured with his wife and daughter in New York today, has now said: ‘While I never met Kristian, like everyone else I feel like I know him. ’He was an inspiration, and a reminder to treasure what really matters in life.’

Father-of-two Kristian will be buried on Friday.

Anderson created the video for his wife’s birthday in September 2010 to thank her for supporting him throughout his cancer treatment. He managed to convince Jackman and the New Zealand Prime Minister, John Key, to make cameo appearances. Key appeared at the start of the video, wishing Anderson’s wife, Rachel, a very happy birthday, while Jackman made an emotional appearance half way through. Jackman looked straight into the camera and said: ‘He loves you Rachel – he loves you.’ Throughout the video, Anderson held up a series of cards expressing how he felt about his wife. At one point he said: ‘I need you like I need a cure for cancer’ and ‘As long as I live, my heart belongs to you.’

Anderson and his wife later met Oprah Winfrey during her visit to Australia in December 2010.
